It is with deep sorrow that we announce that on August 5, 2026, dr hab. inż. Grzegorz Wiczyński, prof. PP, passed away.

Grzegorz Wiczyński had been associated with our university since 1990, when he began working as an assistant professor at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications. In 1998, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the use of pulsed power supply of electroluminescent photoemitters for the generation of measurement optical constraints. In 2006, he became an employee of the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Electronics, where from 2017 he took over the management of the Department of Metrology, Electronics and Lighting Technology.
Professor Grzegorz Wiczyński treated his scientific and didactic work with exceptional diligence and insight. He showed interdisciplinary scientific interests, including in the field of metrology, electronics and optoelectronics. Serving as the head of the Department, he met the conditions resulting from its needs, while making progress in all areas of his work.
Professor Grzegorz Wiczyński, as a researcher, was an exceptionally conscientious person, often uncompromising, and at the same time inquisitive and very diligent in solving the tasks and research problems he set for himself, thanks to his extensive knowledge and experience in electronics, electrical engineering and, above all, metrology. In the metrological community, he was a recognized specialist in the field of electricity quality assessment, and in particular voltage fluctuations. He is the author of many valued and recognized scientific papers referring, among others, to the study of electric energy quality. In many aspects, he was a precursor of these studies not only at the Poznań University of Technology, but also in Poland and worldwide. He was a valued expert in the national and international academic community.
